✨For the holidays, the front of this timeless Manhattan department store has been transformed into a sparkling palace made of millions of twinkling lights. Standing across the street from @saks, I watched throngs of early holiday shoppers and seasoned New Yorkers stop for a moment to stand in awe of the animated windows filled with sparkly evening gowns, dazzling gems and yes, the cast of Frozen II. If you stand there long enough, you’ll get to see the windows literally come to life with lights and moving parts, not to mention the building itself which every twenty minutes or so comes alive with a light and music show that almost literally stops traffic. As I stood there drawing, I noticed that the quiet that washed over the crowd. What caused this sudden sense of calm in the middle of Rockefeller Center? I look around for my answer and saw hundreds of people staring up at the dancing lights and listening as strains of the Nutcracker Suite pour over Fifth Avenue. Tiny little tots with their eyes all aglow, and full-grown adults alike were entranced by the magic of the moment. ✨
