Did you know that the famous lions that guard the entrance to The New York Public library have names? They're called Patience and Fortitude.
They've had a few names over the years, but the ones that stuck were given to them during the 1930s by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. He named them Patience and Fortitude for the qualities he felt New Yorkers would need to survive the economic depression. These names have stood the test of time: Patience still guards the south side of the Library's steps and Fortitude sits unwaveringly to the north. I think we could all use a bit of both in this strange year.
Cozy up with a good book and watch the snow fall while you keep your tootsies warm and cheerful.
